Joint Saskatchewan-Montana carbon capture project buried for want of federal funds | iPolitics

REGINA – A plan by Saskatchewan and Montana to clean up the air by pumping carbon dioxide emissions underground has been buried.

Saskatchewan Innovation Minister Rob Norris says talks on the proposed $270-million carbon capture project were quietly discontinued last fall.

Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall and Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer announced the project with great fanfare in May 2009.

The province said it would put up $50 million for the project and it wanted the Canadian government to pitch in $100 million.
